Seria a defesa da liberdade de expressão uma posição verdadeiramente bolsonarista? A acusação de que a liberdade de expressão é uma bandeira da extrema-direita serve como estratégia de deflexão - um subterfúgio para evitar os argumentos. No entanto, essa posição merece análise.
Devo apoiar a liberdade de expressão como um direito democrático da população? Minha resposta é sim. O recuo ou capitulação nesse terreno traz consequências nefastas para as mais importantes lutas políticas do nosso tempo. A censura, perseguição política e repressão, aquilo que eufemisticamente chamaria de restrição da liberdade de expressão, não favorece em nada a luta de libertação dos povos oprimidos, como fica patente nos casos apresentados. A esquerda, que historicamente lutou pelos direitos democráticos da população, se encontra encurralada tendo que apoiar ou justificar a censura. Ao apoiar a criminalização da opinião e o sufocamento do debate público, seja por miopia, impotência, medo ou mero oportunismo, parte da esquerda abandona a luta política e acomoda sua própria cabeça na guilhotina.

The PhD Day activities held within the 6th Congress of the International Society for Cultural-Historical Activity Research represent how much the research community looks up to the future without neglecting the past. In this edition, 14 out of 23 participants were Brazilians. As Brazil has a vibrant research community on cultural-historical approach, the engagement and participation of Brazilians would not be different. Unfortunately, we could not meet all in person. Natal is suited for this type of meeting in which we start the discussion in presentation rooms and continue it somewhere near the beach. But that was the only thing to regret.
As a millennial, can I understand how Twitter works? – Well, it should be easy, since the largest age group (more than 38%) is between 25 - 34 years old. Sure, most people can use it. Yet do they understand it? I remember the first time someone told me about Twitter. It was sometime around 2008. I did not grasp the notion that 140 characters could be enough to convey an exciting idea.
I just delivered my application for Twitter API. A modest research project on the public understanding of science and conversations on scientific topics. Let’s see if I get approved. It is a new field of research for me. Looks promising and exciting!
